As part of a research project carried out with the University of Southampton in 2006, Shakinda carried out research into the history of colour and music, the way in which the human mind responds to video stimulation and then created a protype in Max/MSP/Jitter to desmonstrate some of the possibilities for future software.
Although many of the prototype's features are now common in current vj software the reasearch includes a history of visulaisation from the days of sir issac newton and follows through the composers of the early 20th century, abstract painting, experimental film to the modern day. It also touches on the implications of colour in cultural context and gives a basic scientific test proving that those of the clubbing age demographic prefer visuals in time to music rather than out of time or no visuals at all.
